The best way to store silk ties

Dec 17, 2024 Leave a message

Silk ties require special care when storing to ensure that their texture and appearance are not damaged. Here are some of the best storage methods:

1. Hanging storage
Silk ties should generally be hung in a cabinet after use to ventilate and prevent them from being pressed. When hanging, you can place curled paper sticks on both sides of the inner edge of the tie so that the edges will not be burned into a dead fold. Avoid direct sunlight when hanging, because long-term exposure to sunlight will cause the silk material to yellow and affect the appearance.

2. Roll up and store
If space is limited or you prefer a neat storage method, you can roll up your silk tie for storage. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Lay the tie flat on the table with the inside facing up and fold up the thin part;
2. Use your hands to roll up the tie from the small part, and roll it tightly;
3. Slowly roll to the end of the tie and pinch it with your hands until the whole tie is rolled up;
4. Use a rubber to fix the tie;
5. Put the rolled tie in a box or drawer.

3. Folding for storage
For some shorter ties or ties that are not suitable for hanging and rolling up, you can choose to fold them for storage. When folding, pay attention to flatness to avoid wrinkles. You can put the folded ties in a drawer and put mothballs wrapped in paper next to it to prevent insects from eating.

4. Precautions
- Avoid heavy pressure: Silk ties are soft and easy to wrinkle, so avoid heavy pressure when storing them. It is best to put them on the top of the wardrobe.
- Keep dry: The environment where ties are stored should be kept dry and avoid moisture to prevent mildew. You can put desiccant in the wardrobe, but do not directly contact the ties.
- Regular ventilation: Silk fabrics have good moisture absorption. If they are not ventilated, ties are easy to get damp and grow mildew. Therefore, the wardrobe where silk ties are stored should be ventilated regularly, especially in high temperature and high humidity seasons.

The above methods can effectively extend the service life of silk ties and maintain their original luster and texture.
